We ate lunch at the pub. One of the best seafood chowders I've ever had. Five kinds of fresh seafood in a toothsome light broth. Mmmmm (just the thought of it makes my mouth water)
I was there for the restaurant so I can't speak on the rooms. We were there in late October and it was very quiet. The food and service was great!We actually ate there twice.We had to return for the muscles! they didn't disappoint!.I am sure it is crazy busy May through September.Stunning view as well!All the food was delicious, loved the fish and chips,everything we ate was delicious,and don't forget the desserts!!
Went for a weeknight dinner and was blown away by the view, the service and the food. My partner and I ordered off the specials menu - the duck wings, tuna bowl and the pork belly ramen. Everything was so deliciously and cooked with such care. The portions were huge and the food was amazing. I eat out in Vancouver a lot but this was an amazing experience. Even the mushroom topping for both dishes were stewed with such care, they were amazing. The ramen broth was so unique and flavourful and satisfying and the pork belly tasted like fried chicken, in a very good way! The tuna bowl was such an adventure to eat and we kept discovering new elements to it as we dug on Kudos to the chef for putting such fun delicious flavours in every aspect of the dishes. Service was fantastic, our server was super friendly and warm. We will keep coming back!
We stopped for lunch and while the pub is lacking atmosphere and feels cheap it does have a great view of the water and the service was very good. We all had the fish n chips which was really good. For being on a small island we were surprised to find the food was reasonably priced.
We had a great experience at The Surf Lodge and Pub. The food was excellent and the location is beautiful — a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the island atmosphere. A special thank you to our server Kenzie. She was extremely friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable about the menu. Her service made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend this place if you’re visiting Gabriola Island!
Beautiful little restaurant with great ocean view. Food was ready fast and was great. Poutine was massive, well worth it. Definitely visit again when I'm on Gabriola. Only went to eat there so have no idea about the "lodge* part but will assume it's 5* as well....
Review is for the restaurant. We didn't stay at the Lodge but looks inviting. Seafood chowder and seafood linguini were very tasty. Lots of seafood varieties and fresh. Staff were friendly and atmosphere was nice and beautiful view. I would recommend, and will be back.
Love this place and visit every year when on the island. Sure, it could use some updates but that’s the whole point. Service was amazing. Best wings in years. Friendly. Unpretentious. Where in the world can you pound pints, breathe in ocean air, and watch whales at the same time.
